Patra Ne Macchi
( Chutney fish steamed in banana leaf )


Ingredients
1 large Pomfrets, deboned, cut into ½ inch thick, slices, washed
1 Lemon (nimbu) juice
1 Coconut (nariyal), fresh, grated
3 Green chilies, seeded
2 cups Green coriander (haradhaniya)
1 tbsp Ginger (adrak)
1 pod Garlic (lasan)
4 -5 Banana leaf or aluminum foil paper
Salt to taste

 

Method:
  1. Grind the green chilies, coconut, green coriander, ginger and garlic into a paste and add salt and lemon juice into it. Set a side.
  2. Wash the fish and marinate for an hour with salt and lemon juice.
  3. Apply the coconut paste on the both sides of the marinated fish. Sprinkle a little oil on a large banana leaf, then wrap up the fish and tie it with a cotton thread.
  4. Leave the wrapped fish in an oven at 180˚C / 350˚F for 15 minutes.
  5. Serve hot
