Spicy Goa Fish

Ingredients
2 lb Fish of your choice
4 Dried red chilies
1 ½ tsp Red chili powder
3 Green chilies (slit lengthwise)
1 cup Grated fresh coconut
1 Onion (chopped)
1 Tomato (puréed)
4 cloves Garlic (finely chopped) 3 tsp Coriander seeds
1 tsp Cumin seeds
¾ tsp Turmeric powder
1 ½ tsp Tamarind pulp
½ cup lime juice
Salt to taste
2 tbsp Oil
Bunch of cilantro (coriander) leaves
 
Method:
  1. Rinse the fish and cut into few pieces, then marinate with limejuice, little turmeric, salt and little water. Set a side.
  2. Soak the tamarind pulp and some hot water for 5-10 minutes, strain and reserve the liquid. Set a side.
  3. Soak the red chilies with some hot water for 5-10 minutes, strain and reserve the liquid. Grind the soaked chilies together with chili powder, onion, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, garlic, turmeric powder, coconut and little bit of tamarind pulp to make a paste.
  4. Heat up a large pan with oil; add onions to fry till it turns golden brown. Add the ground paste with medium heat and keep on frying. Add tomato, green chili and salt to taste.
  5. Pour in the tamarind liquid and 4 cups of water and cook for 10 minutes. Add in the marinated fish and cook till it done. Garnish with cilantro leaves.
  6. Serve hot.
