Papeta Na Sada Pattice
( Deep-fried potato cakes )


6 Potatoes, boiled, mashed
3 Carrots (gajar), boiled, mashed
1 cup Green peas (hara matar), boiled, mashed
½ tsp Turmeric (haldi) powder
1 tsp Cumin (jeera) seeds, roasted, coarsely ground
2 tbsp Green coriander (haradhaniya), freshly chopped
2 tbsp Lemon (nimbu) juice
Salt to taste
4 - 6 Eggs beaten
2 cups Breadcrumbs
2 cups vegetable oil

 

Method:
  1. Mix all the ingredients (except eggs, breadcrumbs and oil) together in a bowl.
  2. With wet palms, divide the mixture equally into 20 portions. Shape each into a small, round, flat cake.
  3. Heat the oil in a wok (kadhai); first dip the potato cakes in the beaten eggs, coat with breadcrumbs and deep-fry till golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain the excess oil on absorbent paper towels. Repeat till all the cakes are fried.
  4. Serve hot.
