Five-Jewel Creamed Lentils

Ingredients:

95 Grams White Gram Beans
170 Grams Yellow Split Peas
40 Grams Yellow Mung Beans
40 Grams Red Lentils 
2 tsp Salt (or to taste)
1 tsp Turmeric
1 cup Vegetable Oil
2 Medium Onions (Peeled, Sliced in Thin Rings)
2 tsp Garlic, Minced
2 tsp Ginger (Grated or Crushed)
2 Medium Tomatoes (Sliced in 2cm thick wedges)
1 tsp Cumin Seed
1 tsp Cayenne Pepper
3 tbsp Fresh Coriander (Chopped)
3 Green Chilies (Minced)
2 tsp Paprika
 

Method:
  1. Wash all the beans before put into a deep pot. Add a cup of water and a teaspoon of turmeric powder. Stir it continually with low heat. While on stirring add in lentils and salt to taste. Cover up the deep pot and simmer for an hour.
  2. On the other hand, heat up a large pan with oil. Fry onions, ginger, garlic & chilies. Increase the heat before adding tomatoes, carefully shake the pan and fry for few more minutes.
  3. Pour the entire stuffs from pan over the deep pot & stir & mix well. Cover up and simmer again.
  4. Heat up the pan again with little oil. Fry cumin, cayenne & paprika. Pour the entire stuffs into a deep pan either. Mix well. Cook till done.
  5. Serve & garnished with coriander and more paprika.
