Five-Jewel Creamed Lentils
Ingredients:
95 Grams White Gram Beans
170 Grams Yellow Split Peas
40 Grams Yellow Mung Beans
40 Grams Red Lentils
2 tsp Salt (or to taste)
1 tsp Turmeric
1 cup Vegetable Oil
2 Medium Onions (Peeled, Sliced in Thin Rings)
2 tsp Garlic, Minced
2 tsp Ginger (Grated or Crushed)
2 Medium Tomatoes (Sliced in 2cm thick wedges)
1 tsp Cumin Seed
1 tsp Cayenne Pepper
3 tbsp Fresh Coriander (Chopped)
3 Green Chilies (Minced)
2 tsp Paprika

Method:
- Wash all the beans before put into a deep
pot. Add a cup of water and a teaspoon of turmeric powder. Stir it
continually with low heat. While on stirring add in lentils and salt
to taste. Cover up the deep pot and simmer for an hour.
- On the other hand, heat up a large pan with
oil. Fry onions, ginger, garlic & chilies. Increase the heat before
adding tomatoes, carefully shake the pan and fry for few more
minutes.
- Pour the entire stuffs from pan over the
deep pot & stir & mix well. Cover up and simmer again.
- Heat up the pan again with little oil. Fry
cumin, cayenne & paprika. Pour the entire stuffs into a deep pan
either. Mix well. Cook till done.
- Serve & garnished with coriander and more
paprika.
